The first da cheng chuan seminar in Quebec, organised by l’Amicale québécoise de tai chi chuan et des disciplines apparentées in collaboration with the dachengchuan – Canada group, and conducted by their special guest grandmaster Guo Guizhi, was a great success!

This very first event organized by l’Amicale brought together more than 60 participants coming from many different regions of Quebec (Montreal, Quebec, Haut Richelieu, Montérégie, North shore) and even from Vancouver. Even with a huge demand for participation for this activity, the organizing comity limited the number of inscriptions in order to offer each participant the maximum benefist from master’s Guo teachings.

In this priviledged set-up, Master Guo Guizhi was able to correct every participant individually in their training within the da cheng quan system such as: standing posture (zhan zhuang), trial of force (shi li), stepping (bu fa), push hands (tui shou) and fists techniques (quan fa). Well supported by the great work of the two translators, Patricia Ton and Yip Cheung, Master Guo Guizhi insisted on the fundamental training elements of da cheng quan for both martial arts and health purposes.

At 76 years old, Master Guo Guizhi who lives in Datong China, is a leaving proof of the results on one’s health of an authentic training in traditional chinese martial arts. He taugth with energy and passion for seven full days of seminars. His undisputable showing of his power, exploding force, mobility, speed and fighting capacity greatly impressed all the people in attendance at the seminar. He is a man with a very high gong fu!

But, it is with is lovable personality and his great generosity in his desire to transmit his knoledge that he seduced his audience. People ranging from late teenage years up to the early seventies were in attendance to learn from the master in order to benefit their health and/or increase their martial arts habilities.
For l’Amicale this first event with an internationally known expert is a great success! The follow-up for the regular activities in da cheng quan in Quebec and Canada will be supervised by the dachengchuan-canada group. L’Amicale Continues its work to promote quality practice of tai chi chuan and related disciplines for the people of Quebec in collaboration with other groups and organizations.
